Chapter 1: Faith
Sigyn set down her embroidery with a frustrated sigh. She was having difficulty focusing and she did not wish to continue making mistakes. The child inside her moved fitfully; it couldn't seem to settle today either. A stake of heartache lanced through her chest at the child's movements. Sigyn had never believed it possible to be filled with so much love and heart wrenching pain at the same time. Most days she could manage, but today was a bad day. Perhaps reading would provide an adequate distraction; the baby liked it when she read aloud.

Jane agreed to meet Darcy at the local grocery store so that they could discuss what to do next in private. She pushed the cart while her assistant picked up several bags of Doritos, at least one of each flavor they had.
"Do we really need all of this?" she asked as Darcy chucked a can of barbeque Pringles into the cart as well.
"Dude, this girl eats like she has the worst case of the munchies. Of course we do."

"Mommy! Mommy!" A high-pitch voice neighed, as Loki climbed off his black steed, glancing at his companions, albeit with embarrassment. Thor and Sif stifled a laugh as an awkward, eight-legged horse bounded into view, dark hairs on his tail swishing in the wind.
"Hello, Sleipnir." The two greeted when the young stallion crashed into the God of Mischief, nuzzling his mother enthusiastically.
"Hi, Uncle Thor and Lady Sif!" Sleipnir brayed. "How was your adventure? Was Mommy the hero? Did you win?"
